This week, Lions Bay Search and Rescue found itself in a real-life episode of “the blue-and-black dress or the white-and-gold dress?” — except this time, it was a bear. 🐻
Our original post identified the bear as a grizzly. The comments got heated, experts weighed in, and we continued seeking additional opinions.
After several further reviews — including input from Conservation Officers and wildlife biologists — we now believe this is a cinnamon-coloured black bear, not a grizzly. We’re happy to correct the record when better information becomes available.
The important part of our original message, however, remains the same: give bears space and help keep them wild.
Whether black, brown, or cinnamon, the goal is the same: safe coexistence for people and bears.
