Lions Bay Search and Rescue was dispatched at approximately 2:00 p.m. today to Anvil Island after a youth fell from a tree.
Staff at Daybreak Point Bible Camp did an outstanding job providing immediate patient care, including spinal immobilization, keeping the patient comfortable, and calling for rescue.
After assessing the location, it was determined that a helicopter hoist extraction would be the safest and fastest option. LBSAR requested mutual aid from North Shore Rescue, with an Advanced Medical Provider (AMP) responding by helicopter to assist with patient care.
The young patient was assessed, packaged into an Air Rescue Platform (ARP), and safely hoisted from the scene. He was then flown to the Lions Bay School field, where he was transferred into the care of BC Emergency Health Services for transport to hospital.
We would like to thank the staff at Daybreak Point Bible Camp for their excellent initial care and calm response, as well as North Shore Rescue, Talon Helicopters, and BC Emergency Health Services for another successful multi-agency rescue. We wish the young patient a full and speedy recovery.
